Value-Added Agriculture Programs (VAAP) team develops resources for Iowans on topics ranging from organizing a value-added group to starting a business developing niche markets and enhancing business profitability. Assistance is available with:

  • Entrepreneurial support
  • Focus groups
  • Feasibility studies
  • Business plans

AgMRC Agricultural Marketing Resource Center

The Ag Marketing Resource Center is an electronic, national resource for producers interested in value-added agriculture. AgMRC offers producers the ability to:

  • investigate value-added opportunities for agricultural commodities and products.
  • gather information on  market and industry trends
  • learn how to create and operate a business
  • study research results of value-added markets and businesses.
  • locate national, state and local value-added resources.

The center is administered by Iowa State University. Contributors to the center include Kansas State University, the University of California and other leading land grant universities and organizations involved in value-added agriculture. Partial funding for the center is derived from the USDA Rural Development.
